Demo Update (07/12/2024)

The demo has updated once again, with further additions to Chapter 2. This update comes in at ~86,000 words added, much of it being additional (optional) scenes for the festival portion of Chapter 2, though a few extra scenes have been added to the main plot of the chapter. I have removed one of the fair scenes, as I felt it wasn't very interesting or necessary.

This is the biggest update to the game yet, though I'd advise you to temper your expectations. A lot of the size comes from the variation I've included, although I'd love to get 86k words of pure plot down in 2 months one day 😂.

This is Chapter 2's penultimate update. No matter how long it takes, the next one will drag the game, kicking and screaming if necessary, over the finish line into Chapter 3.

As always, if you encounter a bug or something that seems off, don't hesitate to DM me or send an ask, here or on tumblr/Discord! You can join the Bladeweaver Discord here: https://discord.gg/DRTehWHfv6

In this chapter you can:

  • Visit five attractions at the Festival of Light in Sola with Sam. These are:
  • A fortune reader's tent, where you can discover an unclear future for yourself, and for your companions.
  • A light show, where you can witness the (abridged) retelling of an ancient legend of Phanol.
  • A strength test, where you can show off all of your eight year-old prowess. Sonia takes this one very seriously.
  • An archery challenge, where you can meet a very enthusiastic young archer and (if you're clever and skillful enough) beat her!
  • A tent of magical trinkets and displays, where you can choose a gift for yourself and (more importantly) meet a cat.

Optionally, you can now do the festival and duel route without Sam. Keep in mind that only one optional scene, the fortune teller's tent, is available here.

There is also a small addition to the main plot of the chapter, with the consequences of Ser Malack's attack revealed...

I hope you enjoy reading.

Also I could never say this cause I missed when it was actually implemented, but thank you so much for making an option for either cycling or dropdown choices. I'm slightly colourblind, so the colour in the game for cycling choices is much less noticeable to me.

That's no problem! It was implemented a while ago. Could you say a little more about which theme you're having trouble seeing the colours of links on, as well as your type of colourblindness? I'll try and do some research to make them stand out more in a new theme.

This may not be accurate to Fizel, I don't want to presume. But there is a kind of colorblindness known as Tritanopia (or Tritanomaly if its less severe) that cannot see the color yellow. The color yellow in tritanopia appears indistinguishable from white.

Thank you for the info. I'll look into creating some themes that are more friendly for colourblindness, as I'm not entirely sure if my readable themes are, well, readable for those with it either haha

You can find colorblind filters online that will show you an approximation of what an image will look like to someone with color blindness. I'd recommend just taking screenshots of some color palettes and then putting them through the filter to see what colors become unclear.

That's a great idea, thank you!
